Power and Poetry: The „DFB arena“ Stadium Magazine

„DFB arena,“ the stadium magazine for the women’s international match between Germany and the Netherlands held in Sinsheim, is showing itself from a completely different side exclusively for this game. For this issue on the international match, the national players were not portrayed in their usual environment. Instead, photographer Horst Hamann, known throughout the world for his photo book „New York Vertical,“ shot the national players in the studio during a preparatory seminar for the UEFA Women’s EURO 2009.

Hamann presented the results of this photo session under the motto „A Feel for the Ball.“ The series presents some great portraits of self-confident, attractive female soccer players. The artistic expression is heightened even further by the black and white photographic prints in conjunction with elaborate reproduction technique and triple matt-coated paper used here.

Ruschke und Partner was responsible for the design and production of this special issue.
